I recieved a call from members of the Elite commitee,informing me that they had just worked a deal with DEC to run an OPEN tourney out of Ticonderoga on opening day, now that the other trail that was scheduled to go out of there has cancelled.

Elite open Saturday June 11th @ Ticonderoga 6-2pm 5 fish limit $100.00 entry including lunker. Be sure to bring a copy of your ins. card. Register the morning of the tourney by 5:30 am. All Elite tourney rules apply.

How come this open isn`t the first points tourney?

As it was explained to me, a lot of guys had been calling and emailing about opening day,they needed to make a decision about cancelling the south bay tourney,since they couldn't get under the bridge. DEC was under the impression that they would only have 25 boats and had agreed to let them go out of TI, but, they couldn't park on the grass,and part of the lot was flooded,along with the fact that another 15 boat trail was already going out of Ti. With the info they had at the time (thurs/Fri) and knowing they had no where to park, they cancelled it. Then posted that it was cancelled.
Monday they got a call from DEC that the other trail cancelled their TI tourney and from reports of anglers that were in Ti saying the water had dropped, they now had more parking. So rather than screw everyone up completely they chose to do what was in the best interest of the club and run it as an open so that guys could still fish opening day,and they wouldn't be throwing all their permit fee's out the window. Now this is all 2nd hand report that I have recieved, and I have nothing to do with how the trail operates anymore,buts thats how I understood it.

I guess that makes sense. Just figured most people had this scheduled anyways( points probably would have worked) . I guess you can't please everybody.
